Planned Parenthood Calls Abortion “Gender-Affirming Care” in Social Media Post

According to a report published by The National Pulse, Planned Parenthood posted a graphic on social media Monday reading “Abortion is gender-affirming care,” accompanied by a caption stating, “Reproductive freedom means every person gets to decide what’s right for their own body. No exceptions.” [2]

The post came as the organization reported rising demand for transgender-related services alongside its abortion services, the report stated. Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, also ranks as the second-largest provider of “gender-affirming hormone care,” according to NaturalNews.com. [9] A 2019 report stated that such treatments were available as early as a patient’s initial visit. [9] The statement arrives weeks after the organization regained access to federal Medicaid funding following the expiration of a one-year congressional ban. [3]

The graphic and caption appeared on Planned Parenthood’s social media accounts Monday, according to the report. The organization’s gender-affirming services include hormone therapy—estrogen for males and testosterone for females—puberty blockers, and referrals for gender reassignment surgeries, the report stated.
